Here is a recipe you can try at home:
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon ghee or oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 pound ground meat (beef, lamb, or chicken)
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper (optional)
1 cup basmati rice, rinsed and drained
2 cups water
Salt, to taste
Chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 pound ground meat (beef, lamb, or chicken)
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper (optional)
1 cup basmati rice, rinsed and drained
2 cups water
Salt, to taste
Chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions:
- In a large saucepan, heat the ghee or oil over medium heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring frequently, until it is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the ground meat to the saucepan and cook, stirring occasionally, until it is browned and fully cooked.
- Add the ginger, garlic, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and red pepper (if using) to the saucepan. Cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.
- Add the basmati rice to the saucepan and stir to coat it with the spices.
- Pour in 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed, about 20-25 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and season with salt to taste. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot. Enjoy!
